Katharina Brandl is a curator, lecturer and author in the field of contemporary art.
She studied political science and art history at the University of Vienna and critical studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and obtained her PhD in art history at the University of Basel. She was artistic director of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich (Vienna) from 2019 to 2022. Prior, she worked in the field of research funding, as a research assistant and as project coordinator of an international studio and residency programme. She founded various cultural initiatives in Vienna and Basel and consulted funding bodies in the arts on the federal and state level in Austria and Switzerland. At the moment, she is head of the division of visual arts at the Swiss arts council Pro Helvetia. She lives & works in Basel and Vienna.
