sic! Raum für Kunst, 20.10.2019-30.11.2020, Luzern
In their artistic work, Lena Kiss (1987, Scherzingen) and Lena Lieselotte Schuster (1981, Bayreuth) comment on the art field with pointed wit and self-irony and often act unnoticed as agents on behalf of art. For both artists, the bread-and-butter job - the reality of life for most artists in the precarious field of visual art - sometimes becomes a production site: Lena Kiss reflects in her drawings, for example, on her work as a saleswoman in a large art supply store in Berlin and shows what artists actually need - time and financial resources. Lena Lieselotte Schuster has also repeatedly worked with the rooms and the audience of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich in Vienna, where she has, for example, left secret messages in photos of exhibition openings or imagined how to sneak away secretly from a performance. These incognito practices, each of which is very different in its own way, underscore how the entanglement of current life situations simultaneously becomes a place of production and a source of inspiration.
