Panel discussion with Markus Pires Mata (Designer), Susanne Neuburger (former Head of Collection, mumok), Milica Tomic (Artist).
Concept & Moderation: Katharina Brandl (Artistic Director of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich)

In 2007, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich exhibited "The Enforced Dress". The exhibition gathered artistic works that worked with fashion and textiles. The proximity of fashion to the body, its social dimensions and its narrative potential were the focus of the project. In the second edition of the discourse series "Throwback" in Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, the curator of "The Enforced Dress", Susanne Neuburger, discusses the relationship between art and fashion with artist Milica Tomic, whose work was shown in “The Enforced Dress” and designer extraordinaire Markus Pires Mata. Is it possible to view fashion as an interface between the body and socialization? The event will be hosted by Katharina Brandl, artistic director of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.

Kunstraum Niederoesterreich’s discourse series, "Throwback", draws on the well-known hashtag #tb in social media and writes a microhistory on the essence of the exhibition. Which time-related terms, definitions and ideas were influential or even discourse determining during a certain period? What can we learn from past exhibition projects about the relationship between contemporary art and its time?
