27.03.2021, Master program ecm - educating/curating/managing, University of Applied Arts, Vienna
I was invited to contribute a guest lecture to a modul of the master program ecm at the University of Applied Arts. The brief was to give an intro to my curatorial practice, here is the abstract:
"Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is an exhibition house for contemporary art that has existed in Vienna's Herrengasse since 2005. In addition to our group and solo exhibitions, we specifically promote performance as a medium of visual art, among other things since 2007 with the annual awarding of the H13 Niederoesterreich Prize for Performance. In my input, I will briefly discuss - from the perspective of the artistic director - the history of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich, its mission and its organizational embedding, followed by a reflection on the basic guidelines of my programming. I will talk about the implicit presuppositions of my practice, such as which notion of contemporary art I work with and which understanding of performance shape my work; and discuss my explicit curatorial understanding of my role."
